يعتبر التعاون من الصفات الحميدة التي يتحلى بها الإنسان، فبه يصبح المجتمع نسيجاً واحداً متكافلاً ومترابطاً، وبه يقضي الناس حاجاتهم حيث يساعد كل منهم الآخر في تحقيق المنافع، وبالتعاون أيضاً تُبنى علاقات المحبة والتآلف بين الأفراد وتختفي الأنانية وحب الذات، وبه يكتسب الأشخاص الثقة بأنفسهم من خلال منحهم شعوراً بأهميتهم ومكانتهم في المجتمع، كما يُعزّز التعاون الشعور بالعطاء، ويساعد على تحقيق النجاح والوصول إلى الغايات والأهداف في وقت أقصر من ذلك الذي يقضيه الإنسان لينجز هدفه بمفرده، لذا يُعدُّ التعاون مقوماً أساسياً من مقوّمات ازدهار المجت

The Status of the Public Relations Department at the University of Jordan: An Evaluation Study from Students Perspectives By Ali Yahya Al-Hadeed Supervisor Prof. Abdulrazzaq Aldulymi ABSTRACT This study aimed to identify the status of the public relations department at the university of Jordan through the evaluation of university students, by identifying the activities and services evaluation offered by the department for them and identifying the extent of involvement of students in such activities and services. To achieve the objectives of the study, the study sought to answer the following questions: - What is the students' evaluation of the overall performance of the public relations department at the university of Jordan? - What are services and activities provided by the department of public relations for students at the university of Jordan? - What is the extent of participation of students in the activities and functions of the public relations department at the university of Jordan? - Are there any statistical differences at the level of significance (α ≤ 0.05) in the evaluation of the sample for the public relations department at the university of Jordan due to the following variables: gender, faculty, place of residence, the students' academic level, and the students' cumulative rate? - Are there any statistical differences at the level of significance (α ≤ 0.05) in the extent of participation of students in the activities and functions of the public relations department at the university of Jordan due to the following variables: gender, faculty, place of residence, the students' academic level, and the students' cumulative rate? The study population consisted of all students in the university of Jordan, bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees students registered in the academic year 2009/2010, (36,569) students. To achieve the objectives of the study, a questionnaire was developed and distributed to (1097) male and female students who were selected using the stratified random method by (3 %) of the study population. The study sample represented gender, faculty, and academic level. To verify the validity of the tool used, the researcher prepared a jury questionnaire, which was presented to a group of specialists in the media of public relations as well as specialists in the research methodology to arbitrate its paragraphs (see Appendix II). To verify the reliability of the questionnaire, the researcher calculated the reliability coefficient using the method of retesting through distributing the questionnaire over (50) students of the study population is different from the study sample students twice whereas as the first time of distribution was two weeks earlier than the second time. Furthermore, the researcher calculated the reliability coefficient of the internal consistency of the paragraphs using the equation of Cronbach alpha. The study methodology used is descriptive analytical method. The study has reached the following results: - The evaluation of the performance of the public relations department from the perspective of students in general is low. - The services and activities provided by the public relations department for students in general is low. - The extent of participation of students in the functions and activities of the public relations department at the University of Jordan is moderate, and that the evaluation range from medium to low. - There are statistical significant differences in the assessment of students to the performance of public relations department attributed to the variable of gender in favor of females. - There are statistical significant differences in the evaluation of students for the performance of the public relations department at the university of Jordan attributed to the variable of the students' academic level in favor of the bachelor's and master's degree. - There are statistical significant differences in the evaluation of students for the performance of the public relations department at the university of Jordan attributed to the variable of the academic level of students in favor of first academic year. - There are no statistically significant differences in the evaluation of students for the performance of the public relations department at the university of Jordan attributed to the variables of the faculty, the place of residence of the student and to the cumulative rate of the student. Based on the study findings, the researcher recommends the following: - There is a need to guide and focus the services and activities provided by the public relations department to students. - There is a need to involve students in activities and functions of the public relations department at the university of Jordan to be a key supporter in the formation of good mental image for the university. - There is a need establish a division of public relations in all the faculties of the university and appoint a liaison officer to handle the responsibility of implementation and coordination of activities and services and achieve direct contact with the internal audience for each faculty including students and members of the faculty and administration permanently, so as the liaison officers is connected with the chairman of the division of public internal public relations department.
